I joined Barclays Bank in straight from school in 1966 and worked at 63 Terminus Road, Eastbourne until 1977. I remember having to balance the books on New Year’s Eve and the dreaded job of having to calculate the deposit interest by hand.

During this time I was sent to Martins Bank to prepare it for the merge with Barclays, they had no machines and everything had to be set up by hand in a very short time.

I left in 1977 to have my daughter Sarah and enjoyed being a stay at home mum until 1988 when I rejoined serving in many branches including Battle, Hastings, Bexhill, Lewes and Uckfield to name a few.

In 2002 I left branch banking and worked in factoring [for Barclays] until 2007 when factoring went to India and I was able to take early retirement.

Since 2007 I have been a carer for various members of our family but now just look after Stuart my husband of 48 years. We enjoy going away for holidays, walking and dancing.

I was a magistrate from 2002 until 2012 during this time I was asked to represent the Magistrates in the Community this entailed visiting schools, colleges and social groups giving out information of what we did and answering any questions

I try to arrange some social activities in the Eastbourne area.
