Bluebell Railway & Ploughmans - September 2024
What a relaxing way to spend a few hours, chuffing along the Sussex countryside pulled by a steam engine and being served a Ploughman’s on board.
Almost 60 of us came together for this afternoon’s journey, which started at Sheffield Park station and travelled to East Grinstead and back.
All the station staff were very helpful and the caterers had their work cut out serving tea/coffee and Ploughman’s to all of us in under two hours! A most enjoyable afternoon all round. - Sue Russell

Waiting for the "go" to board the train

The weather was dry as we waited

More of us gathering together

Just seeing what was on the other platform!

The beautifully restored station at Sheffield Park

Having a look at the engine

Our carriage awaits

Old enamel adverts were along the fencing

Glad to see equality, even in old adverts!

So that is what "Virol" is!

Ready for the off

We all sat in groups of 4

The Ploughmans being served

Steady hands were needed by the servers as the train moved off!

What a way to spend an afternoon!

Watching the world go by and having a good old natter!
