A.G.M. and Lunch - April, 2024
The AGM took place at the East Sussex National Golf Club on 18th April with 111 members in attendance on a bright but chilly Spring day.
We worked our way through the formal AGM meeting Agenda at record speed. Last year’s AGM Minutes, the 2023 Chairman’s Report were approved and then the Treasurer gave her Report with the 2023 Accounts also being approved. These items were followed by the Social Secretary’s Report outlining the events that had taken place in 2023. Sue welcomed Sandra Yarwood to her team for 2024.
The election of the Chairman and Management Committee for 2024/25 saw an across-the-board re-election of the 2023/24 team. However, the Chairman reported that after 12 very successful years as Social Secretary Sue Russell had decided to step down at the end of 2024 following the Christmas Lunch. Sue was thanked by all present for the work that she and her husband Graham had done. The Committee hope that a replacement(s) for this role will come forward as the social aspect forms a vital part of the Club’s objectives.
David Comber was re-elected to be the Accounts Examiner for 2024. On behalf of us all, I would thank the entire Membership for their continued support and trust you place in us to run your Club. A list of the Club Committee is shown at the end of this Newsletter as usual.
With “the business” part of the event over, we had a few minutes to chat and mingle before we were served a delicious lunch by the friendly staff and it was wonderful to see so many happy faces enjoying the company of their friends and ex-colleagues. - Stephen Barnett
“Another well organised enjoyable and successful AGM and lunch. The East Sussex National always look after us and provide an excellent meal and you and your team do a great job with all the arrangements both up front and behind the scenes. We were sorry to hear of Sue and Graham's decision to stand down at the end of the year, They will both be missed and we wish you well in looking for a replacement(s). Please pass on our thanks to all the committee, not just for yesterday but for all they do throughout the year.” – Bryan & Sue Barnes
